What is Backtrack?

Backtrack is a personal recorder for Mac that lives in your menu bar. It saves audio, screen recordings, and conversations after they’ve already happened, making it useful for Slack Huddles, client calls, brainstorming sessions, user interviews, sales calls, webinars, conference booths, and bug reporting.

The app records up to five hours of past audio, screen activity, or microphone input locally, and automatically keeps the last hour of internal or external audio along with your screen. Before saving anything, you can preview and select exactly what you want to keep, whether it comes from a Zoom call or an in-person conversation. Recordings stay private until you choose to share them.

Backtrack also includes built-in AI note-taking: upload a recording to the cloud and the app generates transcripts and summaries, so you don’t have to take notes manually.

Who created Backtrack?

Backtrack was created by Hunter and Jordan. The team has focused on integrations with popular CRMs such as Salesforce and Hubspot, and offers three plans: Explorer, Basic, and Pro.
