What is Alice?

Alice is a desktop AI assistant that provides quick access to multiple AI models, including OpenAI, Perplexity, and Claude. It supports chat, custom templates (Snippets), app integration via Remote Actions, easy switching between models, image processing, voice dictation and response, and keyboard shortcuts. Chat history is stored locally, and it runs on the latest versions of Windows and macOS. Its differentiators include desktop focus, model flexibility, custom Snippets, integrations, privacy, regular updates, and a lifetime-license option.

Who created Alice?

Alice was created by Michael, founder of Autonomee, who uses it to automate his social media content creation and cut down the time he spends on content ideas. The app includes specialized assistants, built-in prompts, keyboard shortcuts, support for models like GPT-4 and Claude, and local data storage.

What is Alice used for?

• Scheduling and communication: Schedule meetings, send meeting links, and set them up in Google Calendar using Zencal.
• Sales and business: Check today’s sales figures by connecting to Stripe’s API, brainstorm business ideas, get insights from data, and format offers as emails.
• Project management: Check sprint status via Linear or Jira to summarize developers’ activity, or connect Todoist, Asana, Clickup, or Notion for a daily briefing on tasks.
• Content and social media: Automate descriptions and titles; fix grammar and spelling, translate, extend or shorten content, rewrite it in any style, and generate marketing copy for social or blog posts.
• Productivity: Create prompts for invitations, accepting or refusing proposals, brainstorming, critical thinking, and coding; map file prompts to custom keyboard shortcuts and run background actions on copied text.
• Model flexibility: Access GPT-4, Vision, Perplexity, Claude, Groq, and Ollama, and create specialized assistants for marketing, sales, and legal work.
• App integration: Use Remote Actions to execute tasks across connected apps such as Todoist, Asana, Clickup, Notion, and Zencal.
• Privacy: API keys and chat history are stored locally.

Setup and pricing

Enter an OpenAI API key in the app settings under General. A ChatGPT Plus subscription is not required; you can use your own OpenAI API key or purchase AI Credits for token-based usage. Plans include Solo, Small Team & Family, and Big Team & Enterprise, with multi-user plans granting access to team members via an email form. The newest version is available with a one-time payment and different plans, includes regular updates for a full year after purchase, and comes with a lifetime license for indefinite use. Update notifications appear in-app with installation instructions, and the license agreement covers usage restrictions, termination conditions, and disclaimers.
