Summarizethis

What is Summarizethis?

SummarizeThis is a free AI tool that condenses text, PDFs, YouTube videos, Twitter threads, and web pages into short summaries. Paste text directly, drop in a YouTube video or Twitter thread URL, upload a PDF, or enter a page URL, and it returns a quick overview of the content.

Details to know before using it:

• OpenAI API key required: You need your own OpenAI API key and must enter it each time you want a summary; the tool does not save it.
• YouTube videos: Works best with videos that have captions, since the AI processes the caption text — useful for pulling the main takeaways from tutorials and informational videos without watching them in full.
• PDFs: Handles most files, though corrupted PDFs may cause problems.
• Platforms: Available on iOS and Chrome. Chrome’s Quick Actions let you summarize text, URLs, and YouTube videos; the iPhone app is set up for mobile use.

Who created Summarizethis?

SummarizeThis was created by an individual known online as @maail. Few other details about the developer or company are publicly available.

Who is Summarizethis for?

SummarizeThis suits anyone who works with large amounts of content and needs to get through it faster: copywriters, content creators, researchers, students, journalists, and business or academic professionals.

Because the tool is free (aside from your own OpenAI API costs) and works across multiple content types, it’s a low-friction option for extracting the key ideas from lengthy material.
