What is Lambda Vision?

LambdaVision is a company developing a protein-based artificial retina to treat serious eye conditions such as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The artificial retina is designed to work like the natural photoreceptors in the eye, with the goal of restoring vision for people who are blind or have significant vision loss. The company is also investigating manufacturing these therapies in space, running experiments in microgravity to improve production.

Who created Lambda Vision?

LambdaVision was founded by a team of researchers led by Dr. Robert R. Birge, a chemistry professor at UConn and a pioneer in working with light-sensitive proteins. The company’s President and CEO is Dr. Nicole L. Wagner. Their core mission is to develop a protein-based artificial retina that can restore vision for patients with degenerative eye diseases such as RP and AMD.

What is Lambda Vision used for?
