What is Jobscan?

Jobscan is a tool for job seekers that helps tailor resumes and cover letters to each specific application. It uses AI and machine learning to analyze your application documents against a job description and gives instant feedback on how well they match, including tips for getting past applicant tracking systems (ATS).

You upload your resume and paste the job listing, and Jobscan points out formatting errors, whether you’ve included key qualifications, your hard skills, best practices, word count, and even the tone of your writing. You get a “match rate” showing how closely your resume lines up with the job requirements, plus personalized suggestions based on that job description.

The resume scanner compares hard skills, soft skills, and industry buzzwords from the listing against your resume, and calculates a match rate based on factors like hard skills, education level, job title, soft skills, and other keywords. Filling out your Jobscan profile tailors the feedback further to your industry and where you are in your job search.

Who created Jobscan?

James Hu is the founder of Jobscan. He grew up in Seattle and is a University of Washington alumnus. Before Jobscan, he co-founded a carpooling startup in Asia and worked as a product manager at Kabam Games, Groupon, and Microsoft. The company is based in Seattle, with employees and contractors across six states and four countries. Its mission is to equip job seekers with the best possible tools to secure their ideal jobs.
