Icons8

What is Icons8?

Icons8 is an AI-powered tool that automatically removes backgrounds from graphics — logos, illustrations, lettering, signatures, and photos. You can upload images as JPG, PNG, or WebP files, one at a time or in batches of up to 500 images. Unlike many background removers that focus mainly on photos, Icons8 handles a wide range of graphic types.

It’s available as a web-based tool and a Mac app (GoProd), plus an API for integrating background removal directly into other products. The free version covers up to three images; beyond that, you’ll need a subscription or prepaid package, which includes priority processing, email support, and 60-day storage of uploaded images for easy re-downloading.

Note the limitations: it may struggle with fine details like wisps of hair, and it won’t change image dimensions or improve image quality.

Who created Icons8?

The Icons8 Background Remover launched on December 17, 2020, built by Ivan Braun and the team at Icons8. It’s part of the larger Icons8 family of tools, which also includes AI-generated illustrations, 3D illustrations, and other design resources.
