What is Hookgen?

HookGen is a web application that uses artificial intelligence to generate original music hooks and melodies. The MIDI files it produces are free to download, with no royalties or licensing fees, so you can use them commercially in any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). The AI was trained on a large music dataset and improves over time by learning from user interactions and listening data. It currently generates music using piano sounds, with plans to add drums, strings, brass, guitar, and bass.

Hookgen launched on May 28, 2019 and was developed by Peter CV, who also runs the world’s most popular website for programming books.
